TLC for the Feet

Our feet go through a lot as they carry us through our day-to-day activities, but what are we doing to maintain their health along the journey?

Just like the rest of our skin, our feet naturally become covered in bacteria, dirt, and sweat throughout the day. Taking the time to cleanse your feet each day will aid in preventing any foot odor and the development of infections. Fungal organisms thrive in moisture, so it's imperative to ensure the feet are dry after being washed, especially between the toes.

After cleansing your feet, take time once a week to examine them thoroughly. You should be checking the tops and soles of each foot, as well as between each toe, for any abnormalities. Abnormalities could include symptoms of athlete's foot, skin injuries, redness, swelling, cuts, blisters, etc. During these weekly checks, the toenails should be looked over for any discolorations or odors that may indicate a nail fungus. If any concerning abnormalities are found, it is recommended to reach out to your dermatologist or physician for further examination.

Some of us may want to take our foot care a little further than just cleansing the skin if our feet need a little exfoliation or extra hydration! The following products can be used at home or in the treatment room on the feet to give a little extra TLC.

Skin resurfacing Lotion

This powerful formula encourages peeling while killing bacteria, suppressing oil production and helping stimulate healing. Apply to calloused areas at night after cleansing the skin. Use three nights on, four nights off.

Refining Body Scrub

A great cleansing/exfoliation combo! This product combines glycolic, lactic, and malic acids with jojoba beads, making it excellent for dry, rough feet.

Hydrating Masque

This masque takes hydrating botanicals to the next level, pairing them with gentle exfoliating fruit enzymes papain and bromelain. Apply to the feet 2 – 3 times a week for up to 15 minutes to gently remove micro-damaged layers while you hydrate.

CBD Massage Cream

For sore feet and swollen ankles, this massage cream is a must-have! This product utilizes Capsaicin to help improve microcirculation to relieve pain and reduce inflammation, and pairs it with the amazing benefits of CBD! Apply to the feet and perform foot massage as needed.

hydrating Hand & Body Lotion and Refining Hand & Body Lotion

These creamy moisture-drenching lotions will leave your feet feeling silky smooth without that greasy after-feel! Both promote softer, smoother skin; however, the Refining Hand & Body Lotion does have the addition of a triple AHA blend to provide mild exfoliation while nourishing the skin with moisturizing ingredients. Apply a layer to the feet over clean, dry skin as needed.

(These products are safe for all Fitzpatrick Skin Types!)

There are many other ways we can care for our feet, such as advanced treatments, massages, pedicures, and even wearing proper shoes and socks.
