Evolution-of-Esthetics

Looking Forward in 2021

The beauty industry, along with the United States as a whole has been tested in numerous ways in 2020 but these challenges have also caused us to grow. Many have banded together when it mattered most to keep moving forward amidst a global pandemic. We are a strong industry that can adapt, evolve, and reinvent ourselves to keep going. As a professional, there are some key areas you can focus on to keep a positive outlook for the new year; from adjusting your treatment schedule, boosting your social media presence, to setting up a 24/7 online retail store.

What can you do as a professional? Support each other and check-in with your fellow estheticians. Share tips and tricks on what you have found to work and not work for your clients with the extra safety measures, added restrictions, or complete closures. Use this time to level-up your knowledge and share what you’ve learned with your clients. Help them to succeed in their home environment until they are able to visit you once again in person. Whether you are dealing with closures or are re-opening, you can still stay in touch with your clients by sending emails, posting to social media, and checking in virtually via zoom or other platforms.

With everything happening this year, the biggest thing to embrace is handling the changes and procedures as best as you can. Remember to be patient with yourself and only take on what you can handle. This may mean narrowing your spa’s menu temporarily or adjusting your hours. Whatever those changes may be, have them make sense for your business. Implement new procedures that allow yourself the time you need between appointments to keep yourself and your clients safe.

A fantastic way to embrace the “new normal” is by utilizing virtual platforms to your advantage. Share your passion for what you do by educating your clients virtually via social media, emails, or your website. Share tips-and-tricks and how-tos to assist your clients and get them through this with as much ease as possible. This will allow you to strengthen your connection with them and that you are still there for them until restrictions have ended and you can safely practice again. Another useful tip is to start Virtual Consultations to get to know potential new clients and follow up on a treatment path with any current clients.

Based on the current climate, several beauty trends have popped up to help give a sense of normalcy, reduce stress, and provide ourselves or our clients a form of self-care. These include relaxing hand and feet treatment, gua sha, cold rolling, and LED treatments. These are all treatments that help us to feel good which evolve into other forms that we are utilizing such as meditation and yoga. Utilizing these can be extremely helpful to help aid our body and minds during this time.

Another key game changer for our industry right now is online retailing. Being able to still provide products for your clients despite the restrictions can be a crucial way to consistently earn an income during this unpredictable economic climate. GlyMed Plus offers REGEN® Retail which is a free eCommerce platform, branded with your logo, that allows your clients to purchase directly from you anywhere, anytime!

For each purchase on your online store, you will earn a 40 percent commission that is paid weekly by direct deposit. GlyMed Plus still stands by its promise that it only sells to Licensed Estheticians and not directly to your clients. REGEN Retail ensures the professional still comes first and your clients get the support and direction they need with their home care. This is an amazing way to keep connected with your clients and help them address their needs no matter how far away they are. We handle shipping, processing, fees, and everything else! All you need to do is share and educate your clients and we will handle the rest!
