REGEN® Retail has greatly impacted many estheticians' businesses and lives. GlyMed's Account Manager Melissa Shippen knows its importance in the esthetics industry, and so we were thrilled to have the opportunity to interview and ask her all about REGEN Retail.
Q. Tell us about yourself, Melissa
A. I started with GlyMed Plus in June of 2000. Before that, I worked for a recruitment company relocating to Salt Lake. The Account Manager position at GlyMed Plus was a position we were looking to help hire for; I applied and have been at GlyMed ever since. I knew nothing of esthetics before GlyMed. There was no licensure for estheticians until 2001. I grandfathered in through GlyMed Plus.
Q. What is REGEN Retail?
A. It is an online platform that enables GlyMed Plus estheticians to provide purchasing options for their clients. It adds a level of convenience to their skincare business.Learn more by clicking here.
Q. Who is it for?
A. All GlyMed Plus Professionals have the option to set up a store. And any consumer can shop!
Q. When was REGEN Retail implemented?
A. June of 2019 is when we first launched it!
Q. What are the benefits of REGEN Retail?
A. It is a tool we provide our professional accounts for them to grow their business. We live in an online world, and consumers enjoy the convenience of online shopping. We strive to help our accounts succeed in every way possible, and REGEN Retail is another tool we offer to do that.

Q. How do you market to clients?
A. The ways to market your REGEN Store are endless! Each month, accounts receive images our fantastic marketing team provides! These images help educate consumers, promote online sales through their store, and seasonal ones that correlate with the holidays. We provide these so our accounts can spend their time doing what they love—seeing clients! Social Media is FREE and a highly effective way to market your REGEN Store! We offer weekly webinars for our accounts and recorded webinars with tips on making your store successful.
Q. How should those who have REGEN Retail encourage clients to use it?
A. I recommend showing them how easy it is the first time you have your in-person or virtual consultation with your clients. Let them know that is the easiest, quickest way to get their retail products. And a bonus is a few times a year, GlyMed Plus will have sales on REGEN store too!
Q. How has it made selling products easier?
A. Consumers now have information about products accessible to them 24/7; they can shop at their convenience! And there is no overhead and everything ships directly to the client.
Q. How can estheticians promote home care purchases?
A. Results come from home care products. Treatments are a vital part of achieving results in the clinic, but home care is crucial. Results are only truly attainable by home care and treatments together. Educating clients on the importance of home care will allow consumers to see the value in retail products, and once they see the results in the skin, they will be hooked on exceptional products.
Q. What would you want aspiring business owners to know at the beginning?
A. Work towards building lifetime loyal clients. This means these clients come to you for all their skincare needs, questions, and services. You have a trusting relationship with them. You both value each other. When creating your business practices, make sure you think of the future. You might only have a few clients right now, but when you are fully booked, are you still able to operate how you are now? Set boundaries now and enforce them.
